Artist's Comments
Pen and inks. This was based on sketches and photos I took of a Ural Owl in a wildlife park. First I create a randomly mottled background by dropping acrylic inks onto watercolour paper, blowing the drops and spatters with a straw and sometimes spraying with a mist bottle. When the background is dry I draw into it with my technical pens and black ink, using hatching and stippling techniques.
